is to elevate the academic achievement of all students.

Occupied in 1991, Strawbridge Elementary School is located in the fast-growing, southeastern portion of Virginia Beach. We have a current enrollment of approximately 800 students. In addition to our student body, we host the Early Discoveries program, sponsored by the YMCA.
Our school has once again reached full accreditation status. Some recent highlights include:
- Third grade students achieved a 100% pass rate on the Science Standards of Learning Test.
- Third grade students also scored above 98% on the English Standards of Learning Test. This is a gain of over 18 percentage points from the previous year.
- On the Math and History Standards of Learning Tests, third grade students scored above 98%.
- Fourth grade students scored above 96% on the English Standards of Learning Test and above 93% on the Math Standards of Learning Test. This past year was the first year that fourth grade students participated in SOL Testing.
- Fifth grade students scored above 97% on the English: Writing Standards of Learning Test.
- On the Science Standards of Learning Test, fifth grade students achieved a 96% pass rate.
- Fifth grade students also scored above 94% on the English: Reading, Math and History Standards of Learning Tests.
- We have boasted 100% PTA membership for the past 8 years. We look forward to our ninth year of 100% membership in 2007-2008!
- Our number of Partners in Education continues to increase, adding two Partners this year. This is the second year that our Partners in Education and Volunteers in Education Coordinators have planned collaboratively to meet the needs of our students and staff.
- This is the eighth year that we are hosting the Employment Transition Connection Program. Operated through the Office of Programs for Exceptional Children, this program affords high school students the opportunity to explore their vocational interests prior to graduation.
